For the second time in a week a popular Co Wexford beach has been hit with a ‘Do Not Swim’ notice.

Wexford County Council advises the public that a “Do not swim” notice has been issued for Duncannon Beach, Co. Wexford.Testing conducted as part of the Council’s normal monitoring of bathing water showed elevated levels of bacteria at Duncannon. Following consultation with the HSE, it is necessary to issue “Do not swim” notice at Duncannon Beach in accordance with the Bathing Water Quality Regulations 2008 and in the interest of public health.

A Do Not Swim notice has been issued to Duncannon Beach in Co. Wexford. It's come from Wexford County Council which did tests on the water.

Wexford County Council is urging members of the public not to swim at two popular Wexford beaches after testing showed elevated levels of enterococci bacteria.

Wexford County Council Environment Section has issued a do not swim notice for Carne Beach due to elevated levels of E. Coli and Intestinal enterococci bacteria were detected in the water. Following consultation with the HSE, it was deemed necessary to issue a do not swim warning notice at the beach in accordance with the Bathing Water Quality Regulations 2008 and in the interest of public health.
