Comoros ex-president Sambi jailed for life for 'high treason'
The Comoros ex-president Ahmed Abdallah Sambi, who was convicted of selling passports to stateless people living in the Gulf, an offence classified as high treason, was on Monday sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court. Sambi, 64, an arch-rival of President Azali Assoumani, was sentenced by the State Security Court, a special judicial body whose rulings cannot be appealed, AFP reports.
Ahmed Abdullah Sambi has been convicted of high treason for selling Comoros passports to stateless people. The ruling by the State Security Court cannot be appealed.
