Local religious leaders and members of the community urged people to empathize with the Palestinian victims of violence during a rally Wednesday in Pullman’s Reaney Park. About 60 people of all ages attended the rally to support the Palestinians in the middle of a bloody conflict with Israel that has killed more than 200 Palestinian people, including children. A rematch of a 2017 Pullman City Council race may be shaping up for this year. The Executive Director of United Way of Whitman County Eric Fejeran has announced his candidacy for the seat held by Al Sorensen.  Sorensen defeated Fejeran with 57% of the vote 4 years ago.  Sorensen hasn’t announced yet if he is running for re-election this year. One World Cafe in Moscow has been busy making its world bigger and better this year. For starters, it expanded into the former Mock Orange restaurant adjacent to the coffee shop, where it now serves food and alcohol. The United Way of Whitman County is now accepting grant applications from registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations until May 17.  Organizations have to provide services in three specific areas: health, education and financial stability to qualify, said Christine Oakley, United Way of Whitman County vice president.   The United Way fundraises money year-round to fund the grant, Oakley said. United Way of Whitman County is now accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations on the Palouse.  Applications must be submitted no later than May 17th. The grant process includes a comprehensive survey of the nonprofit’s operations and impacts in the community.
