An Alabama lawmaker plans to introduce legislation that would make faking an abduction a felony, after Carlee Russell was charged with two misdemeanors after lying about being kidnapped.
Carlee Russell may be charged with multiple crimes, including making a false police report and misdemeanor theft, and may be on the hook for the cost of the investigation.
“It is what it is," Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said of Russell's confession.
