Then & Now: 302-310 Millbury St., Worcester With a name that would eventually be synonymous with “reliability,” as the advertisements suggested, Charles E. Mattson founded a furniture company in Worcester in 1899. Charles E. Mattson Co., better known as Mattson Furniture, sold goods that would fill three-deckers for years to come. This son Erwin Mattson would later take over the family business. On Oct. 8, 1925, Charles Mattson moved his business from 349-355 Millbury St. to 302-310 Millbury St. - the building in our Then photo. The fancy new address had 30,000-square-feet of floor space. Before moving, the company held a “removal sale,” reducing the prices of its entire stock. ....
