Green Park will get new city website

The city of Green Park will be getting a new website this year, as well as moving to a cloud-based server for city documents.  At the January Board of Aldermen meeting, City Administrator James Mello told aldermen that the city is working with Revize, a website development company for governments and other municipalities, to revamp. ....

Thuston appoints Broughton to Ward 1


Green Park got a familiar face as a “new” aldermen this week after Ward 1 Alderman Esad Softic resigned last month.
Former Ward 1 Alderman Michael Broughton was appointed by Mayor Tim Thuston to replace Softic, who resigned as alderman after moving out of Green Park.
Broughton will finish out the rest of Softic’s term through next April, when he is up for re-election.
Broughton joins a long list of aldermen who have been appointed by Thuston to fill vacancies left on the board due to resignations or lack of candidates during elections.
In fact, Softic himself was appointed to the board by Thuston last August to fill a vacancy after the only candidate who filed for Ward 1 in the 2020 municipal elections was disqualified, leaving an empty ballot. ....

April races set in cities, school boards


Candidate filing closed Tuesday for a number of governmental positions that are up for election April 6, setting up several competitive races across South County. One of the trends this year is that many incumbents did not file to run again, so there are a number of new faces across local city and school boards.
The Mehlville fire board and the Green Park mayoral seat will see competitive races this year. Incumbent fire board Treasurer Bonnie Stegman is being challenged by a former firefighter.
Aldermanic seats in Crestwood, Green Park and Sunset Hills are also up for election, along with three seats on the Grantwood Village Board of Trustees. Green Park and Crestwood will have a number of new faces on the Board of Aldermen, but no competitive races, while Sunset Hills will have competitive races in all four wards. And for the first time in recent memory, Grantwood Village will have competitive races. ....
