"Optimization of biological enzymes combined with Fe2+-activ" by Xu Kang, Chaolin Li et al. - Vimarsana News

"Optimization of biological enzymes combined with Fe2+-activ" by Xu Kang, Chaolin Li et al.

Waste activated sludge (WAS) conditioning is crucial for enhancing sludge dewaterability and effectively reducing the management cost. The feasibility of bio-enzymes with Fe2+-activated advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) for WAS conditioning was investigated in this study. Two representative bio-enzymes, α-amylase and neutral protease, and two typical AOPs, the Fenton system and Fe2+/Ca(ClO)2 system, were chosen. The medical dosages of AOPs were first optimized by single-factor experiments. On this basis, the dosages of bio-enzyme, ferrous ion, and oxidant were optimized using the response s...

"Optimisation of a renewable cooling and heating system using an intege" by Haoshan Ren, Zhenjun Ma et al. - Vimarsana News

"Optimisation of a renewable cooling and heating system using an intege" by Haoshan Ren, Zhenjun Ma et al.

Abstract A new simulation-based strategy for optimal design of a renewable cooling and heating system that includes a desiccant wheel, a photovoltaic/thermal-solar air collector (PV/T-SAC) and a thermal storage unit using phase change material (PCM) is presented in this study. The strategy is formulated by integrating an integer-based genetic algorithm (IGA) with the response surface method (RSM), in order to tackle the system nonlinearity with manageable computational costs. The PV/T-SAC is used to provide thermal energy for desiccant wheel regeneration and space heating in cooling and heati...

"Direct contact membrane distillation for liquid desiccant regeneration" by Jingjing Liu, Haoshan Ren et al. - Vimarsana News

"Direct contact membrane distillation for liquid desiccant regeneration" by Jingjing Liu, Haoshan Ren et al.

Liquid desiccant cooling (LDC) systems are being widely considered as a promising alternative for energy savings and the regeneration is one of the most significant processes of the LDC systems. This paper presents a direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) regenerator for liquid desiccants regeneration of LDC systems and fresh water production simultaneously. The novelty of this study is to use the response surface method to establish models to predict the DCMD regeneration performance with highly concentrated lithium chloride solutions based on the experimental investigation. The interact...
