David van Boven was on Tuesday sentenced to two life terms and 31 years imprisonment while his co-accused Tasliem Ambrose received a six-year sentence for his part in robbing the deceased.
Judge Judith Cloete explained that she needed time to consider arguments before she could deliver a well reasoned, suitable and fair sentence.
Sentencing proceedings are expected to begin on Tuesday morning about a month after David van Boven and Tasliem Ambrose were convicted in the Western Cape High Court.
