The Walt Disney Company has given a $1 million grant to Exceptional Minds, a nonprofit academy and working studio training young adults on the autism spectrum for careers in the creative arts.
The mentorship helps young artists and production workers from underrepresented communities prepare for a future working in animation.
They include Driftwood, a 90-minute animated space adventure family movie event from executive producer/creator Victor Courtright (Aquaman: King of Atlantis) and Invincible Fight Girl, a half-hour action-comedy series from first time executive producer and creator Juston Gordon-Montgomery (DC Super Hero Girls).
