The city of Desert Hot Springs will put on a fireworks show for the Independence Day holiday this year on July 2, city officials announced Tuesday. 
We re very excited that the city of Desert Hot Springs is having the first in the Valley fireworks celebration, said Executive Program Manager Roberta Crncic during Tuesday s City Council meeting. 
The free event will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Mission Springs Park, 14510 Palm Dr., on Friday, July 2. 
Earlier this month, the Palm Springs City Council voted against hosting a fireworks show for the Fourth of July this year, citing concerns for the negative impacts of fireworks on pets, veterans and people with PTSD. ....
