Meta Platforms Inc. was slapped with a €265 million ($277 million) fine for failing to prevent the leak of the personal data of more than half a billion users of its Facebook service.
These apps were listed on the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store and disguised as photo editors, games, VPN services, business apps and other utilities to trick people into downloading them, said Meta.
A leaked document said Facebook is unable to account for most of the personal data it holds, including what it's used for and where it's stored. Just how bad is the situation?
