College decision day has arrived for high school seniors.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said the Department of Education is working around the clock to make sure the FAFSA process improves, after major delays and a troubled roll out of the new financial aid form.

Gov. Jim Justice has declared a "state of emergency for education" in West Virginia over delays in the rollout of the new Free Application for Federal Student Aid. There have been multiple issues with the new form, causing colleges and universities to push back the traditional May 1 decision day and leaving students with doubts about receiving financial aid. In his declaration, Justice said West Virginia must find a way around federal FAFSA requirements so student can receive state assistance.

Citing issues with the federal government’s rollout of a new application for student aid, Gov.
