Tyro says terminal outage compensation bill could hit $15m

Asks impacted merchants to register losses.
Tyro expects to take a minimum $19 million hit from a payment terminal outage this year that impacted one-third of all merchant customers.
The company’s CEO and managing director Robbie Cooke told the company’s half-year results that the prolonged outage “did not sit comfortably” with Tyro and its executive team.
He called on impacted merchants to register their financial losses with Tyro; the company estimated these could run to around $15 million, though it noted that “ultimate exposure could differ”.
Cooke also said that Tyro would provide all merchants with a new back-up option that could be used in the event of any future service interruption. ....

Aussie Broadband switches mobile allegiance from Telstra to Optus

Aussie Broadband is set to revamp its mobile services and expand into offering cellular fixed wireless after switching its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) allegiance from Telstra to Optus.
The company announced the change as part of its half-year results, saying it had signed a new MVNO agreement with Optus Wholesale in December last year.
In an accompanying slide deck, Aussie Broadband said the Optus agreement “will replace [the] existing MVNO agreement for access to the Telstra network”.
Aussie Broadband said it plans to move its existing 19,000 mobile customers off the Telstra network and onto Optus. ....
