First time Doreen Makarenko Memorial Scholarship is distributed to student

Rachel Paul is the first recipient of the new Doreen Makarenko Memorial Scholarship. The family of Doreen Makarenko have chosen the Fairview Health Complex Foundation to receive and manage this new ongoing scholarship fund.. The $1000 annual scholarship is open to students in the Peace region who are continuing their post-secondary education in a health care related program.
Doreen enjoyed a 30 year nursing career in Fairview at the Fairview Hospital, as Matron of the Fairview Nursing Home (now Long Term Care) and later as a Home Care nurse. She was the Chairperson of the Fairview Hospital Board while it was its own entity before amalgamations. She was always interested in promoting and supporting our community and health care here in Fairview. ....

Fairview Health Complex Foundation supporting AHS staff

Each year, the Fairview Health Complex Foundation works on projects and initiatives that enhance the delivery of health services in the Town of Fairview and district. To round out the year, the Fairview Health Complex Foundation distributed Chamber Change to Alberta Health Services (AHS) staff and have several projects lined up for the new year.
Stan Burkholder, Chairman of the Fairview Health Complex Foundation, explained that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AHS staff were not able to have a holiday party as they do every year.
