Local contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies will make Alphabet Incs super-premium Google Pixel 8 smartphones in the country, said two industry executives aware of the plan.

Google Pixel: Google's move is partly aimed at gaining a share of the Indian market, having been unable to do so despite several attempts, analysts said. In the Pixel's Rs 50,000-plus price bracket, consumers prefer Apple's iPhones or Samsung's Galaxy devices, they said. Imported smartphones attract import duty of 22%, which raises the price tag, they said.
