TWO women who have lost loved ones to brain tumours are demanding action from the Government to fund research to help find a cure. Mum-of-two Katie Coxon, from Perkinsville, near Chester-le-Street, died aged 38 in January, just three months after being diagnosed with a diffuse midline glioma. Her sister, Lauren Loan, a warehouse operative for Asda, also from Perkinsville, signed a petition created by the charity Brain Tumour Research calling for increased investment in scientific research to bring parity of funding with other cancers such as breast and leukaemia.
