LAHORE: The Punjab government has imposed a lockdown in seven more areas of the city after they reported a surge in coronavirus cases. A notification was issued with directions to the district and police authorities to seal the localities to stop the movement of people and business activities as per the standard operating procedures. The lockdown was proposed in some localities of Askari 10, Defence Phase II and III, Sarwar Colony, and Fazal Park of Shadbagh. In the notification, the Punjab government has also directed the police to make sure the local shops, traders and markets observe time restrictions to curtail the virus. The government was of the viewthat the lockdown was imposed following reports submitted by medical and health experts regarding rapid spread of the virus in the above-mentioned localities.
