Subscriber only Two years ago, Brad Davies was a Muay Thai champion and competed regularly for the Maryborough Wallaroos. But a horrific scooter crash after a wedding in Bali turned his life upside down. The collision between Davies and his mates left them unharmed, but he suffered skull fractures along with grazing to about 80 per cent of his face. Desperate to get home, after initial treatment at a hospital in Bali, he boarded a flight back to Brisbane. Brad Davies suffered horrific injuries in the scooter crash in Bali. There the wounds to his face were reopened, cleaned out and treated and he was told he would need six weeks off driving and work as he recovered from his injuries.
The three day event was held at North Kirra on the Gold Coast. Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club s under 12 boys sprint team placed seventh in their event. The march past team also enjoyed success, finishing ninth. North Burleigh finished first overall at the event. When Fraser Coast rivals the Maryborough Wallaroos and the Hervey Bay Seagulls went head to head at Stafford Park on Saturday night, the hits were hard and the running was fierce. The trial match between Wallaroos and Seagulls.
Both sides gave it their all in wet conditions at Hervey Bay’s Stafford Park on Saturday night.
In the end, the Seagulls claimed bragging rights with a 22-10 victory over their local rivals.
Seagulls also claimed victory in the under-18s clash and the reserve grade game.

Subscriber only With the hot sun beating down, players from the Maryborough Wallaroos ran up the sand dunes at Rainbow Beach, determined to get fit ahead of this year s rugby league season. After the COVID-19 pandemic led to last year s Bundaberg Rugby League competition being cancelled, Wallaroos player Bailey Robertson said it was great to be getting ready to compete. It s been a good start to the year, he said. The Wallaroos are set to take on their arch rivals, Hervey Bay Seagulls, in a trial match this weekend. Bailey said the year off had inspired old faces to come back to the club, as well as welcoming new faces who were keen to join in the fun of being back on the paddock.
