Twins recall history-making test cricket bow
Rose and Liz Signal made their New Zealand debuts in 1984 on a tour of England. They beat Australia’s Mark and Steve Waugh by a few years and New Zealand’s Hamish and James Marshall by two decades. Not that they knew it at the time. In her Feilding home Rose has a small newspaper clipping from the Sydney Morning Herald in 1992 that noted the feat. Before someone sent them the cutting, their place in the record books had never occurred to Rose nor Liz. “We didn’t actually know at the time that we were making history. We were quite blown away really when we found out,” Rose says.
