An SUV travelling west between Boundary Road and McConnell Avenue went off the road around 4:20 p.m. and struck a culvert, bursting into flames. SD&G O.P.P. have released the preliminary identities of two of the victims. They are the driver – a 64-year-old man – a 55-year-old woman passenger, both from Brampton. (Newswatch Group/Bill Kingston, File) MORRISBURG – Provincial police have identified a truck driver killed in a crash involving two transports on Highway 401 east of Morrisburg Wednesday afternoon. Police say 46-year-old Dilpreet Singh Rai of Brampton died when his rig smashed into the back of another truck in the westbound lanes between Upper Canada Road and the Church Road overpass. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. The collision closed a section of the highway on Wednesday for several hours. Thumbs Up

Police announced Monday that 20-year-old Taisha Martell of Cornwall is facing charges of criminal negligence causing death and impaired driving causing death. She is also charged with driving with open alcohol in the vehicle under the Liquor Licence Act and a Highway Traffic Act charge of being a novice driver without a blood-alcohol reading of zero.
