To put america on trial over drone attacks in his country. the 17-year-old claims that a missile fired from one of those drones killed three members of his family and left his leg so badly mangled it had to be amputated. now he is looking to sue the cia for damages. the u.s. military says the drone strikes are key to weakening al qaeda and other terrorists that mount attacks across the border from pakistan. if this lawsuit does go forward the implications could really be huge here. let s talk more about that. we have a former federal prosecutor. fred, is there a case here? interesting, jenna, there is a lot of hurdles that the guy would have to jump over if he wants to bring a case. under international law the united states is permitted to act in self-defense. going after members of al qaeda and the taliban who have threatened and swore to slaughter american civilians is self-defense. under international law when americans go after people using drones, the drone ....

Care reform as long as you have barack obama in the white house. jon: perhaps the best christmas gift all americans got out of the congress is no tax increase on january the 1st. that is something that republicans felt pretty strongly about. once they got that passed were they more willing to go along with the president and senate democrats, senate and house democrats on things like don t ask, don t tell ? well, let me take it a different way. i don t know that it had a huge impact although obviously they said nothing was going to happen until the senate had voted on funding the government and on the taxes so that was the precursor. the fact is that a lot of these issues aren t hugely important. obviously don t ask, don t tell is very important if you re a gay american who wants to serve in the military but aren t hugely important to the general electorate. start, the surprise actually was it had so much trouble getting passed not that it got passed. it is not enormously consequen ....
