Tamil writer Perumal Murugan won the JCB Prize for Literature for his book Fire Bird on Saturday. The book has been translated into English from Tamil by Janani Kannan.
The award was announced virtually by Lord Bamford, Chairman of JCB Group, and awarded in person by Deepak Shetty, CEO and Managing Director, JCB India Limited. The JCB Literary Prize award carries Rs 25 lakh to the author and an additional Rs 10 lakh to the translator.
