Pet rescues in limbo as Hay River, N.W.T., faces possibility of losing highway to washouts
Almost all of the roughly 400 people who live in Vale Island in Hay River, N.W.T., have now left, said Mayor Kandis Jameson. A note from the town Wednesday afternoon warns that the only road to the island is unstable and will close at 6 p.m.
