when they called us, they told us it was a house fire with people possibly trapped in the structure. alan bell, jr. is an 11-year veteran of the dover volunteer fire department. his colleague, louis morales with the randolph fire department is also on the scene. we saw a lot of smoke coming from the first floor and lot of smoke coming from the second floor, in the front of the house. morales learns a woman is trapped on the second floor. he and his team quickly assess the situation. when i arrived, i just saw the randolph fire department on scene establishing water supply and trying to get into the building to be able to make a rescue of the victim that was reportedly trapped. shortly after arriving, alan bell pulls out a brand new gadget, a helmet camera, giving a rare glimpse of what firefighting is like up close. i got it for christmas of 2009 so probably about six weeks before this fire. ....

Is there any part of this report you re unhappy about? well, you know, i continue to believe that we re on the right path, and this shows me that we are in a mode for a good recovery here, but we still can t lose sight of the many people still looking for work and i continue to be concerned about the local government because we continue to see a loss of jobs there. that s why the president is out today to talk about incentivizing, hiring up of veterans and firefighting service and forestry service and police service. so wi still have a lot to do and we still have to extend that payroll tax because we re not out of the woods by any means, chuck. you said what the president was going to focus on, because the one thing that s been a consistent negative jobs number in this report has been the public sector, if you will, but the issue, of course, has been funding for local and state governments. so and there s obviously not the political appetite on capitol hill to send more money dow ....

Foot towards the ladder, and i went down. the three men, each one clinging to the next, make their way back to the rescue ladder and finally to safety. thank god i m alive because i was scared to death. i was thinking about my children. i thought i was going to fall to the ground. i was just so happy to hit that building. i could hear the guys telling me to be calm, be calm, we re coming for you. i didn t want to move until i had the other fireman s hand. he said, come on, big boy, we re going to get you down. as i grasped his hand, i felt safer. i knew that he wouldn t have let go of me no matter what. if anything, the ordeal has strengthened their commitment to firefighting and to each other. i trust these guys with my life every day. i knew they were going do whatever it took to get me. if it took another one going down also, i knew they would do that. because we do that for each other. it s a brotherhood. coming up, a boat stuck in the ice in the bering sea. ....
