Surprise appearances from some of dave s friends. jay leno will not be there. rumors for months maybe letterman s long-time rival would show up and make one appearance on the late show but leno has apparently declined. i don t want to say it s officially 100% but letterman s producer makes it sound like we won t see leno. here s what rob bur net told me yesterday. i would love to have jay on the show. i think we all would have loved that. one last time would have been a beautiful end note to a fascinating relationship between these two guys. it didn t come to pass. that s jay s call. no hard feelings. they have to make their own decision on that. so no leno but maybe we ll hear from kimmel or the other late night comedians. jimmy kimmel said he encouraged people to watch letterman instead. i will have a show but go over to cbs and watch letterman instead. it s going to be a historic night. i m surprised by the fixation on whether jay leno will be there. dave wasn t on jay s las ....
