The Flat River Community Players are at it again with a laugh so hard your belly will ache, and you will have to wipe the happy tears off your face. Performances of “The Play That Goes Wrong” are set for 7 p.m. on April 21, 22, 28, 29 and at 2 p.m. on April 30 at the Greenville Area Recreation and Community Center, 900 E Kent Road, Greenville, Michigan. The Daily News receives 37 awards from Michigan Press Association

The Daily News was honored with 37 awards for news, sports, design and advertising in the Michigan Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest, the results of which were was announced on Thursday. The Daily News received 21 awards for advertising and 16 awards for editorial work from 2021 and 2022, including second place for Class D Newspaper of the Year (the Daily News took first place in this category for seven years prior) and second place statewide for Daily Newspaper Excellence in Advertising.

When I lived there in the 1950s, Greenville appeared to be prosperous and hopping. When I went downtown, either walking with Cindy or driving with my mom, there were always lots of people walking around and shopping, and all the storefronts were occupied. There was the Greenville Furniture Co., which had interesting things in the basement like doll beds. Cindy and I each got a doll bed there. They were about ten inches long and had plastic gingham covers, one red and white and the other blue and white.
