According to a Saskatchewan judge, a farmer's emoji response to a contract made him accountable for 82,200 Canadian dollars. 

Sending a thumbs-up emoji as a response could be considered an agreement to a legally binding contract, a judge in Saskatchewan, Canada, has ruled.

Justice Timothy Keene noted that the emoji is a "non-traditional means to 'sign' a document, but nevertheless, under these circumstances, this was a valid way to convey the two purposes of a signature."

While the defendant argued that the thumbs-up just signified that he'd received the contract, the judge disagreed with that interpretation.
