Aled Hughes » Fri Apr 09, 2021 9:37 pm I wouldn’t want to try an Audix D6 on anything other than a bass drum I don’t think. It has such an extreme and distinctive EQ scoop. It’s a great trick for many a kick though. A pair of SDC mic or ribbons could be useful, as well as ‘better’ dynamics (Beyer M88 and M201 are among my favourite mics). You have the posh LDCs but they’re not always all that useful around a kit. Personally, I wouldn’t care much about what goes into what preamp. Life (and session time) is too short.
