Nigerian Final-Year Medical Student Becomes Food Vendor As Strike By University Lecturers, ASUU Approaches 7 Months
As the industrial action embarked upon by lecturers in Nigeria's public universities continues, a final-year medical student of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Usman Abubakar-Rimi started working as street food vendor to ward off idleness. SaharaReporters had reported that the umbrella body of the country’s university lecturers, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), declared a strike action on February 14 to force President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to implement the agreement the government had with ASUU in 2009 on how to fund university education.
