April 21, 2021 1:09 pm The first National Dialogue – Sustainable Food Systems and Ireland’s 2030 Agri-Food Strategy will take place today (Wednesday, April 21). In September, the UN Secretary-General will convene a ‘Food Systems Summit’ as part of the effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Ireland’s response to the summit is being led by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The summit will highlight the potential of food systems to deliver a sustainable future for all people and the planet, and set out a framework of commitments and actions for all stakeholders to achieve sustainable food systems over the coming decade. ....
About this Event Enhancing the sustainability of our global food system can help address many of today’s greatest challenges and accelerate progress towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. In September of this year, the United Nations Secretary-General will host a Food Systems Summit to highlight the potential of food systems to deliver a sustainable future for all people and the planet, and set out a framework of commitments and actions for all stakeholders to achieve sustainable food systems over the coming decade. The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is convening a series of four National Dialogues on Ireland’s Food System as part of Ireland’s engagement with the Summit. Register for Irelandâs First National Food Systems Dialogue : 21 April 2021 | 14:30 -16:30 (IST) The Dialogue will open with a keynote address by Dr Martin Frick, Deputy of the UN Secretary-General s Special Envoy for the Food Systems Summit 2021, followed by two panel discussions to examine in more detail: Panel A : Irelandâs Food Systems Approach: A view from Home and Internationally Irelandâs 2030 Agri-Food Strategy has been developed using a âfood systems approachâ, which takes account of the links between policies for food, climate and environment, and health, as well as the role of all players in the food value chain in realising a future vision.
