Nigerian Police Chief Warns Against Duplication Of Investigations, Stops Undue Taking Over Of Cases By Force Headquarters
Nigeria's Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has warned that henceforth transfer or taking over of cases from Commands/Formations by Force Headquarters-based outfits must only be carried out upon approval of a written petition to him, which will serve as authority for any such action. Baba in a statement issued on Tuesday through the Force Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, described the directive as part of efforts to strengthen the criminal justice system and standardise investigation processes in the police force.
