The Union Home Ministry extends the validity of FCRA registration for NGOs expiring on March 31 to June 30. This includes NGOs with pending renewal applications. Those with a five-year validity expiring between April 1 and June 30, 2024, can also apply for renewal until June 30. The FCRA mandates registration for NGOs receiving foreign contributions. Over 16,000 NGOs had valid FCRA licenses as of July 2023, with 6,600 licenses canceled in the last five years for violations.
The ministry has also given time till June 30 to all NGOs whose five-year validity is expiring between April 1, 2024, and June 30, 2024.
