Forest Minister Dindigul C. Srinivasan on Thursday rejected the request by an MLA for hunting of hare on the occasion of folk deities’ festival in the southern districts.
He was responding to Melur MLA P. Periyapullan, who sought permission for hunting during the folk deities’ festival, which is usually celebrated after Sivaratri.
“Laws are against hunting and people have not been able to do it for some years now. They can be relaxed during the festival,” he said.
Mr. Srinivasan said no one had the right to kill wild animals as it was against the law.

City Civil Court has listed her case for hearing on March 15
Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s close aide V.K. Sasikala and her nephew T.T.V. Dhinakaran have approached the Registry of the city civil court seeking early listing of a civil suit filed by them challenging AIADMK-related decisions taken by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and others.
The suit, which was filed in the Madras High Court in 2017, sought to declare that Mr. Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Forest Minister Dindigul C. Sreenivasan, former Minister S. Semmalai and AIADMK presidium chairman E. Madusudhanan are not members of the party. Further, they submitted that all actions done by them in their capacity as its office-bearers are illegal and against the bylaws of the AIADMK.

Govt. will form a Valaiyar Reclamation Board, says CM

‘Statues of Veera Mutharaiyar will be erected at Valayangulam and Anaiyur’
The AIADMK government will take steps to establish a Valaiyar Reclamation Board, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said here on Sunday.
Addressing a conference organised by the Veeramutharaiyar Munnetra Sangam, he said the government would always work towards uplifting the Mutharaiyar community. Statues of Veera Mutharaiyar would be erected at Valayangulam and Anaiyur in the district in compliance with the request of community leaders.
Mr. Palaniswami said the government was also taking steps to protect the memorials for the rulers of the Mutharaiyar community. The government, as announced in the Assembly, laid the foundation for the statue of Perarasar Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar in Tiruchi. The Mutharaiyar community members are mostly farmers who feed the people of the State, he said.

Stalin's prediction won't materialise: Dy. CM

There is no confusion in the ruling party, says Panneerselvam
DMK president M.K. Stalin’s prediction that the AIADMK will split is not going to come true, Deputy Chief Minister and AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam said in Theni on Wednesday.
Speaking to presspersons, he said there was no confusion in the AIADMK. Unable to stomach the popularity and the unity in the AIADMK, the Opposition leader was trying to spin stories. This was not going to happen.
On the election campaign, he said he would begin at the appropriate time. To a query on the choice of the chief ministerial candidate, he said C.T. Ravi, BJP general secretary in charge of Tamil Nadu, had already clarified the same. “There is no confusion. We are seeking votes from the public with a clear mind and with clarity,” he said.
