According to early results, Mr. Borisov s GERB party looks to have won around 23-25% of the vote on Sunday. Analysts warned the result is unlikely to offer an end to the country s political instability.
Former Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov was detained Thursday during a police operation.<br><br>\r\nBorisov and members of his Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party were detained during a special operation concerning 120 cases of misuse of European Union funds.<br><br>\r\nFormer Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov, former head of the budget committee Menda Stojanova and former head of the government\'s information service Sevdalina Arnaudova were also detained.<br><br>\r\nThe European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi announced earlier that authorities are investigating more than 120 Reports of Crimes in Bulgaria.<br><br>\r\nThe cases refer to various types of suspected crimes including fraudulent use of European funds, mismanagement of public funds, misuse of agricultural subsidies, violations in the field of infrastructure as well as compensations and recovery aid packages following the coronavirus pandemic
