RI ethics commissioner with role in Providence mayoral campaign resigns
PROVIDENCE — On his time off from his job as Gov. Gina Raimondo's director of administration, Providence mayoral candidate Brett Smiley has been meeting with famed political operative Edward Cotugno at the law office of state Ethics Commission member Emili Vaziri. On Thursday, Vaziri notified Ethics Commission Executive Director Jason Gramitt that she intends to resign her seat "effective immediately."
