A march demanding justice for slain High Point teenager Fred Cox is scheduled for Saturday. It will begin at the High Point City Hall and end at the courthouse. Among the organizers are Rev. Greg Drumwright and nationally known civil rights attorney Ben Crump — who also worked with George Floyd’s family. The protest comes weeks after a decision not to charge a Davidson County detective in connection with Cox’s death.

A 911 call from November 8, 2020, was released by High Point Police after a Grand Jury chose not to indict the deputy who shot Cox.

A Davidson County detective won’t face charges in connection with the shooting death of Fred Cox in High Point last year.  The last minutes of Cox’s life were marked by tragic circumstances: a High Point funeral attended by law enforcement because the deceased was the victim of a homicide, followed by a shootout in the street outside the church by two groups of people and a crowd desperately seeking cover.
