Raising Awareness of ALS: Werner Park Hosts Lou Gehrig Memorial
May 28, 2021, 12:08 p.m. · A memorial display at Werner Park near Omaha honors Lou Gehrig who passed away from ALS on June 2, 1941. A Lou Gehrig memorial display is at Werner Park in Sarpy County until June 16. The memorial honors the baseball great’s fight with ALS and raises awareness of the disease. June 2 will be recognized as Lou Gehrig Day across baseball. That day in 2021 will be the 80th anniversary of the Hall of Famer’s death.
