Madison County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the slaying of a Colbert man whose body was found early Monday on a road in front of his home. The victim was identified as Fredrick Appling, 53, of Farm Road, a rural neighborhood about halfway between Colbert and Comer. A suspect in the shooting death of a Colbert man early Monday was charged with murder about 16 hours after officers responded to the crime scene, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s investigators identified Deshun Kevon Turner, 24, as the man who shot and killed Fredrick Appling, 53, in front of Appling’s home on Farm Road.
