An ongoing and expanding part of Isothermal Community College's (located in Spindale) educational opportunities is workforce development. Guest for this Friday Feature was Mark Franklin, who serves as Director of Customized Training and Development Engineering for the college. Mark shared ICC's business model, the college's relationships with industries, facilities for training, and newer business classes in Culinary Arts and Truck Driving. In January, Greenville's United Way teamed up with Greenville Technical College for an MLK Drive for the college's Re-Entry Coalition. Besides promoting the event, the Friday Feature interviewed Greenville Tech - Upstate Returning Citizens Program Director, Sammie Stroud, about working with inmates to prepare them for being released from jail and getting back out in the society. Evan Carr, who serves as Volunteer Coordinator for a group called Spartanburg Shares was guest of this Friday Feature from Dec. 17, 2021. Spartanburg Shares is a free medical loan closet for those that qualify in Spartanburg County. Items that often get handed out are walkers, scooters, and canes.

Known for the New York Times Bestseller The Beatles, Author Bob Spitz has now released Led Zeppelin: The Biography. Spitz's story shares how Led Zeppelin, including members Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, were not fans of the media and its criticism. They did it their way, through the good and the bad. This book is a true behind-the-scenes look at the band. Spitz was our guest for this Friday Feature on Nov. 10, 2021.

An event and book signing brought Author Michael Almond to the campus of Isothermal Community College, which gave WNCW the chance to turn it into a Friday Feature Interview. Michael is a retired Economic Development Attorney here in North Carolina. Michael told us all about his first published book, The Tannery - a fictional story based in Wilkes County in the early 1900s that has to do with race and murder.
