Iranian demonstrators take to the streets to condemn a terrorist attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in Shiraz.

Protesters clashed again with security forces on October 28 in Zahedan, a city in southeastern Iran that has seen weeks of unrest since a wave of demonstrations broke out following the death of a 22-year-old woman detained by the country's morality police.

A 16-year-old boy was among the dozens of people killed during a crackdown on anti-government protests in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan Province on September 30. In an interview with RFE/RL's Radio Farda, the teen's brother said he was shot dead after attending Friday Prayers.

Beygumjan Raeisi, the mother of late RFE/RL journalist Reza Haghighatnejad, says Iranian security agents have abducted her son's body while it was being repatriated to Iran for burial.

Like much of Iran, residents of the country's southeastern Sistan-Baluchistan Province took part in recent anti-government and anti-hijab protests. But the vast and impoverished region, populated largely by minority Baluchis, has taken the brunt of the violent government response.
