Pre-marital tests suggested to stem thalassemia spread

PESHAWAR: The Frontier Foundation Hematology Services Chairman Sahibzada Muhammad Haleem on Monday said that couples should undergo medical tests before marriage to stem the spread of thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood-related disorders.
Talking to the parents of thalassemia-hit children, he said that thalassemia disease would spread if the precautionary and preventive steps were not implemented in letter and spirit. Frontier Foundation Administrator Dr Fakhar Zaman and others were also present, said a press release.
Sahibzada Muhammad Haleem said that the genetic diseases like thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood-related disorders were spreading fast owing to the lack of awareness among the people.

PESHAWAR: The Frontier Foundation Hematology Services arranged camps in various areas of Swat district to collect blood donations for the children suffering from thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood-related disorders.The camps were held in Khwazakhela, Manyar, Kalkot, Kanju and other areas where several bags of blood were collected, said a press release here on Monday.
The Frontier Foundation team comprising Ijaz Alam, Dr Amjad Iqbal, medical technician Zakirullah and assistant Suleman Pervez supervised the camps.Social figures of different areas, including Jahan Alam, Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Adeel, Farman Ali, Haji Khalid, Javed Khan and others collaborated with the Frontier Foundation team in holding successful blood donation camps.

PESHAWAR: The Frontier Foundation Hematology Services arranged camps in various areas of Swat district to collect blood donations for the children suffering from thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood-related disorders, said a press release here on Monday.
The Frontier Foundation team comprising Ijaz Alam, Dr Amjad Iqbal, Zakirullah and Suleman Pervez in collaboration with the prominent social figures of the area Ubaidullah, Ijaz Gul and others organised the blood donation camps at the Rescue 1122 office in Charbagh, Goga Darra and Gumbat Maira in Swat.
A noticeable number of people and staff of Rescue 1122 donated blood for the children suffering from thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood disorders.The Frontier Foundation Chairman Sahibzada Muhammad Haleem thanked the people and personnel of Rescue 1122 for the blood donation. He said holding blood donation camps had become very difficult in the prevailing situation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
