"Performance evaluation of normal- and high-strength concrete column sp" by Hayder Alaa Hasan, Hogr Karim et al.

Glass fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars, as reinforcement in concrete structures, have several desirable properties over conventional steel bars, such as high tensile strength, low density and resistance to corrosion. However, there are still some concerns about using GFRP bars as longitudinal reinforcement in concrete columns primarily due to their low compressive strength and low modulus of elasticity. It is evident that the compressive behaviour of GFRP bars as longitudinal reinforcement in normal strength concrete (NSC) and high strength concrete (HSC) columns has not been extensively i...

"Flexural strengthening of RC beams with NSM-GFRP technique incorporati" by Hamza M.Y. Ali, M. Neaz Sheikh et al.

Reinforced concrete (RC) beams may require flexural strengthening due to the corrosion of reinforcing bars or changes in the design load. The near surface mounted (NSM) and externally bonded (EB) techniques, using either glass or carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP or CFRP) composites, are used for strengthening deficient RC beams. However, RC beams strengthened with both techniques are susceptible to the debonding failure of the FRP composites. This paper proposes an innovative anchoring system for NSM strengthening of the RC beams, which comprises an L-shaped GFRP bar anchor (L-anchor), U-...
