Thee Sacred Souls have lots to celebrate these days: they're recently home from a national tour with St. Paul and the Broken Bones, and about to embark on another tour supporting Belle and Sebastian and Tennis later this summer. But for now, they're celebrating being home, and the 5 year anniversary of East Village event space Quartyard. Owner Maureen Schneider has carved a warm and cozy niche out of a former 1920s tavern near the Cuyahoga River. The eclectic dinner menu, posted on blackboards, changes often and blends hearty fare, like lamb and duck, with Californian and Pacific Rim accents; lunch includes a selection of sophisticated noshes, as well as soups, salads and sandwiches.

Proprietor Fritz Ayers — who also owns Conchy Joe's and The Dolphin Bar — paid homage to the area's history of the boat building industry in Stuart.

Although the kitchen at this Caribbean-themed restaurant (part of the Darden Restaurants chain) tends to keep the heat turned down, much of the food — such as pressed Cuban sandwiches, butterflied coconut prawns, pan-seared pork tenderloin in a rummy demiglace — is flavorful and attentively prepared. Still, the real draw is the bustling bar scene, fueled by shooters, beer, and boozy, fruity, and frozen concoctions designed to make every night feel like a week at the beach.
