From The Tribune staff reports JEFFERSON COUNTY All JefCoEd students will participate in remote learning on Wednesday, Feb. 17, the school system announced Tuesday afternoon. Classes will begin at 9:30 a.m., and students will follow their school’s remote learning schedule. JefCoEd also says lunch will be available for pickup at each of its high schools with the exception of Fultondale High School. Fultondale students may pick their lunches up at Fultondale Elementary. Extracurricular activities, including the high school basketball playoffs, will take place as scheduled. ....

(WBRC) - UPDATE: Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Dr. Walter Gonsoulin sent parents a letter Friday morning with more information on how the district will move forward after a deadly tornado hit Fultondale last Monday. In the letter, Dr. Gonsoulin says students will remain remote for the next two weeks (Feb. 1-12) and an announcement will be made by Feb. 12 about the remainder of the semester. The letter says the district is looking at options for in-person instruction and Dr. Gonsoulin believes a building has been secured. ....
