Prayagraj: Given the Mahashivratri snan scheduled on Thursday, mela police and city police have chalked out a security plan for the safety and security of pilgrims and devotees arriving at Sangam - the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati to take holy dip on the fifth and the last snan of Magh Mela. The Magh Mela will end with the Mahashivratri snan on Thursday. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the snan along with temples located near the mela campus. While mela police have worked on crowd and traffic management to ease the rush of devotees in and around mela campus, city police have reviewed security arrangements to tackle the influx of crowd who would be thronging at prominent five lord Shiva temples of the city to offer prayers on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
Apart from personnel of paramilitary forces, around 100 swimmers were also deployed on ghats to keep a strict vigil and tackle any incident. PRAYAGRAJ: The annual religious congregation — Magh Mela — came to a close at the Sangam with lakhs of devotees taking the holy dip on the last snan on Mahashivratri on Thursday. This also ended the 57 days of austerity and spirituality on the banks of the Ganga. The Magh Mela, which began on January 14 amidst strict implementation of Covid-19 protocol, also witnessed mammoth Covid sampling drive, screening at entry gates and millions of devotees and pilgrims arriving on the banks of Ganga from different parts of the country to seek salvation and earn punya.
A major chunk of the devotees from the city and adjoining districts started reaching Sangam since dawn and the number went up gradually by afternoon PRAYAGRAJ: Amidst foolproof security arrangements, around 15 lakhs devotees, sadhus and kalpwasis took holy dip at the Sangam on the occasion of Basant Panchami on Tuesday. A major chunk of the devotees from the city and adjoining districts started reaching Sangam since dawn and the number went up gradually by afternoon. Mela Adhikari, Vivek Chaturvedi said, “Around 15 lakh devotees and pilgrims took holy dip on the occasion of Basant Panchami. This is the fourth main snan at the ongoing Magh Mela and it passed off peacefully with no untoward incident being reported.”
Prayagraj: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for pilgrims, devotees and kalpwasis ahead of Basant Panchmi snan on Tuesday and the Magh Mela campus has been into a fortress with ATS and STF commandos, and personnel of para military forces also being deployed. The Basant Panchmi snan is considered a local snan and hence local residents will also be going besides pilgrims, sadhus, and kalpwasis and hence security has been beefed up in and around mela campus. ATS and STF commandos and personnel of para military forces have also been deployed to keep a strict vigil and tackle any incident.
