Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 may be down, but it isnât out, according to its president and past president.
It has money in the bank, about a third of its members have renewed their memberships for this year, and expenses are low.

The one thing it doesnât have at this time is a home.
The branch has been out of its First Avenue West quarters for the past year, and has been trying to find new accommodations since before it locked its doors. A few possibilities have come up, most falling by the wayside, but the effort is continuing.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 members are being asked to renew their memberships despite the branch’s uncertain future.
“We want all legion members to renew their memberships and they (can) do that at their current branch. At this moment, Branch 23 is still a legion branch, so yes, all their members are encouraged to renew,” said Garry Pond, president of the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Provincial Command.

He said legion members are asked to log onto legion.ca and go to the portal where they can use their credit card to pay their membership dues.
