Competitors battle the elements at national dog trials
Dog trialling has been Roughan’s life. When farming at Te Tipua and Mandeville he qualified dogs to compete at a national level every year from 1982 until his retirement “When I started I realised that near enough wasn’t good enough, and I got organised and started doing things a bit better. I never got into the provincials, but I was always there competing.
