(Willmar MN-) The Willmar City Council meets tonight and are expected to hire a new public works director. Gary Manzer is retiring, and replacing him will be 18-year public works
It is recommended the Council hire Justin DeLeeuw, an 18-year employee with the Willmar Public Works Department.
Gary Manzer has worked for the city for nearly 40 years, starting in Civic Center maintenance and working his way up to Public Works director.
One of the items included in the city of Willmar's extended contract with BKV Group, not to exceed $15,000, is a site concept and cost estimate for remodeling the JCPenney building in the Uptown Willmar mall.
“Tonight’s a night to reflect on our progress and look forward to the future of Willmar,” Willmar Mayor Doug Reese said. "I promise to look at each action, motion, resolution that passes over my desk, determining if the action is good for our city.”
