A college professor suspected in a series of arson fires has been charged with setting a small blaze in a forest near Northern California’s massive Dixie Fire

Gary Maynard is a college lecturer who used to work at Santa Clara University and Sonoma State. He's accused of starting the Ranch Fire over the weekend in Lassen County, and could be connected to a handful of other fires in Northern California.

Federal prosecutors say Gary S. Maynard, who previously lived in Columbus, is suspected of setting forest fires near California's Dixie Fire.
