Work is underway to raze the first of the buildings being torn down to make way for downtown Topeka's Polk-Quincy Viaduct to be rebuilt and realigned.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has bumped back to September its plans to begin razing houses in the path of the planned Polk-Quincy Viaduct.

The beginning of demolition has once again been pushed back a month for properties in the future path of downtown Topeka's Polk-Quincy Viaduct.

Eldon man injured after striking a deer in Cooper County Lake Sun Staff An Eldon man suffered minor injuries after striking a deer in Cooper County. Gary D. Smith, 62, was driving his 2007 HD Ultra Classic southbound on MO 5 in Cooper County Sunday morning. While driving down the road, Smith crashed into a deer. Smith suffered minor injuries and his vehicle also sustained minor damage.
